Age – Adults above the age of 40 are at higher risk
Gender – Women are at higher risk than men
Obesity – Over-weight people are at higher risk
Family History
Sitting or standing for long time at work e.g teachers, policemen etc
Lack of movement or low physical activity
Pregnancy – due to the increase in blood flow. Also the enlarged uterus puts pressure on the veins.
